An abandoned and frightened dog was spotted on the roadside by rescuers at Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac, Serbia. Although she was tentative as he approached at first, she soon became excited and wagged her tail. Her emotions moved quickly from scared to happy, to scared again and soon her rescuer discovered why. There, in the ditch where he found her, was her brother. Heartbreakingly, her brother was not so lucky.
It appears the puppy had been struck by a car and died. His fate was an extra reminder of the dangers in trying to rescue the timid but excited puppy. Cars were still zipping by the road and could threaten the puppy he was trying to save. Watch “Nina’s” rescue in the video below:
